Profile
inKind was born from the restaurant industry, not from the outside looking in. Founders Johann Moonesinghe and Andy Harris were restaurant owners and investors themselves, having operated and invested in dozens of hospitality concepts. Running an 18,000-square-foot restaurant incubator, they experienced firsthand what keeps great operators up at night: capital is hard to access, restaurants are rich in product but tight on cash, and getting in front of new guests is a constant battle. Out of those learnings, inKind was created, a first-of-its-kind platform designed by operators, for operators. Since 2016, inKind has grown into the largest independent restaurant financing and consumer loyalty platform in the US, deploying over $600 million to more than 7,100 partners nationwide, from Michelin-starred destinations to beloved neighborhood spots.
What inKind Does
inKind sits at the intersection of growth capital and guest acquisition, two of the most pressing needs for any hospitality operator, and solves both through a single, seamless partnership.
Step 1:
Capital, Immediately. inKind purchases food and beverage credit directly from a restaurant, delivering upfront cash with no loan applications, no personal guarantees, and no equity given up. Funds can be used for anything โ a new location, renovation, marketing, or community programming.
Step 2:
Guests, Motivated. inKind sells that credit to its 5 million+ high-spending diners (over 39K in Seattle Metro area) through the inKind app, incentivizing them with bonus credit and VIP perks to visit partner restaurants, turning capital into a guest acquisition engine automatically.
Step 3:
Results, Measurable. inKind-driven guests spend 347% more on average, check sizes increase by 39%, and customer visits increase 2.5x. A significant share of visits happen on off-peak days and from guests traveling five or more miles, filling seats that would otherwise stay empty.
